The first four journals are the premier journals in the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation; the rest of the journals are listed in alphabetical, NOT ranked, order.

Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (APM&R)
The Archives of PM&R is the premier journal in the specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation and is an official publication of the American Congress of Rehabilitation and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.  According to the Institute for Scientific Information’s 2005 Impact Factor ranking (for the year 2004), Archives continues to be by far the most heavily cited journal in the rehabilitation field.


American Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
The journal focuses on the practice, research and educational aspects of physical medicine and rehabilitation and publishes cutting-edge basic and clinical research, clinical case reports and in-depth topical reviews of interest to rehabilitation professionals.  American Journal of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation was preceded by American Journal of Physical Medicine.  

Critical Reviews in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine
The journal provides reviews of well-established diagnostic methods, clinical modalities and techniques, and rehabilitative methodologies for specific etiologies amenable to treatment by physical medicine.  The journal appears quarterly, and includes from one to four articles that summarize and evaluate the current status of an important topic.  Topics and authors are chosen by the Editorial Board members, all of whom are leading practitioners, researchers, and active contributors to the literature in their area of expertise.


PM&R is the new official scientific journal of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R). It is a monthly, peer reviewed, scholarly publication that advances education and impacts the specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation through the timely delivery of clinically relevant and evidence-based research and review information.  


American Journal of Nursing (AJN)
The American Journal of Nursing the oldest and largest circulating nursing journal in the world, is an award-winning, peer-reviewed, monthly journal.  As the official journal of the American Nurses Association, AJN provides a vehicle for inquiry into important policies and professional issues, while offering a global perspective on nursing.


American Journal of Occupational Therapy (AJOT)
AJOT is the official peer-reviewed journal of the American Occupational Therapy Association that focuses on research, practice, and health care issues in the field of occupational therapy.  The tables of contents with abstracts are available online to everyone; full text articles can be accessed by AOJT members only.  Please visit your library or contact the library staff for print copies of the journal.


American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology (AJSLP)
An official journal of the American Speech-Language Association, AJSLP pertains to all aspects of clinical practice in speech-language pathology.


Aphasiology is concerned with all aspects of language impairment and disability and related disorders resulting from brain damage. It provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge and the dissemination of current research and expertise in all aspects of aphasia and related topics, from all disciplinary perspectives.


Brain provides researches with the finest original contributions in neurology.  Its citation rating has been one of the highest for neurology journals, and it has consistently published papers which have become classics in the field.


Brain Injury
The Brain Injury is the official journal of the International Association for the Study of Traumatic Brain Injury (IASTBI) and the European Brain Injury Society (EBIS).  It covers all aspects of brain injury from basic science, neurological techniques and outcomes to vocational aspects.


Dysphagia is a multidisciplinary journal devoted to swallowing and its disorders.  Its scope includes all aspects of normal and dysphagic ingestion involving the mouth, pharynx, and esophagus.


Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (JMPT)
The JMPT is dedicated to the advancement of chiropractic health care and is the only chiropractic journal included in Index Medicus.  The Journal's editorial board includes some of the world's leading clinical low-back and spine researchers from medicine, osteopathy, and chiropractic.


Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation
The journal publishes investigations of clinical and basic research, theoretical formulations, literature reviews, case studies, discussions of public policy issues.


Journal of Pain
The Journal of Pain publishes original articles related to all aspects of pain, including clinical and basic research, patient care, education, and health policy.


Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine
This journal, formerly known as Scandinavian Journal of Rehabilitation Medicine, is an international peer-reviewed journal.  Original articles, reviews, case reports, short communications, special reports and letters to the editor published, as well as editorials and books reviews.


Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)
JAMA, published since 1883, is an international peer-reviewed general medical journal published 48 times per year.  It is the most widely circulated medical journal in the world and is published in multiple international editions and languages.


The Lancet
Published since 1823, The Lancet is the world’s leading medical journal.  The journal was, and remains independent, without affiliation to a medical or scientific organization and authoritative voice in global medicine.


Muscle & Nerve
Muscle & Nerve is an international and interdisciplinary publication of original contributions, in both health and disease, concerning studies of the muscle, the neuromuscular junction, the peripheral motor, sensory, and autonomic neurons, and the central nervous system where the behavior of the peripheral nervous system is clarified.


Neuropsychological Rehabilitation
Neuropsychological Rehabilitation publishes human experimental and clinical research related to rehabilitation, recovery of function, and brain plasticity.  The Research Digest is a regular feature of the journal; the digest editors scan a wide range of journals and other publications for material of particular interest to those working in rehabilitation.


New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM)
Founded in 1812, The New England Journal of Medicine is a peer-reviewed medical journal published by the Massachusetts Medical Society. NEJM is an acknowledged leader in publishing the most important and clinically relevant research in medicine and is one of the most popular and widely-read medical journals in the world and has a special section called "Images in Clinical Medicine".


Nursing magazine is a peer-reviewed and evidence-based resource.  It’s mission is to improve nursing practice by providing evidence-based practical information with a reader-friendly approach. This magazine is a great source for clinical and professional information, the latest news, and equipment updates.


An official publication of the International Association for the Study of Pain, this journal publishes original research on the nature, mechanisms and treatments of pain.


Pediatric Rehabilitation
Pediatric Rehabilitation is an international journal for improving scientific awareness, communication and knowledge about recovery, development and outcome in childhood disorders.


Physical Therapy
Founded in 1921, Physical Therapy is the official publication of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and is an international, scholarly, peer-reviewed journal.  Physical Therapy serves APTA members and other health care professionals by documenting basic and applied knowledge related to physical therapy, providing evidence for clinical decision making, and publishing a variety of research relevant to the field.


Recognized internationally as the leading journal in its field—and now published 26 times per year—Spine offers a forum for the sharing of important diagnostic and therapeutic advances for the treatment of spinal disorders.


Published by American Heart Association, Stroke is a resource for current clinical and experimental information on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cerebrovascular disease for neurologists, internists and researchers.
